Amazing pan seared tuna fish! Yummm!

Amazing pan seared tuna fish! Yummm!

We all have our favourites we whoop up from time to time – don’t we? Challenge is always how to eat healthy and not spend too much time right? For me, this is never a challenge but always exciting! So, today was one such day. Healthy cooking is indeed a challenge for busy professionals – right?  I  just cooked some amazingly healthy stuff in just 5 mins and it was yummy good. No, there was no  panel of judges but the buds on my tongue did not complain! Thank God and we take that for a positive  endorsement :) For we know to make a healthy lifestyle changes, its doable by slowly piecing in things we like and we know are good for us. BTW, my recipe below is original and not from a book! You can always experiment and i love doing just that.

Here is how you do it. I got some yellow fin frozen tuna from Trader Joe’s. They come as couple of steaks and no bones or skin and so easy to cook. I put some olive oil on an iron skillet and let it warm up some – not too much… but some – and then placed the rinsed frozen steaks on them. Because the oil is warm but not too hot, it will not splatter!  Put some freshly crushed black pepper corn and freshly ground rock sea salt from McCormick brand and let it cook. I also added Montreal Chicken seasoning of also the same brand. All this is – is blend of garlic, salt, onion, spices with pepper, parsley, red pepper, (you can use garam masala if you like from Indian grocery stores). But the blend i used also has orange peel, paprika, green bell peppers…

After every few mins turn them over so they cook evenly.  Do not burn them but get them brown; you may choose to add more olive oil to keep it brown.  After both sides are reasonably cooked, use a fork to make some poke marks in the fillet. Squeeze half a lemon on the steaks. Cook some more with the steaks getting the juices from lemon, olive oil and the spices. You can add few mint leaves just before taking it out or on the plate for ambiance and for a touch of flavour.

Cook like you desire, I like mine cooked but not too hard and not too pink but nice and fluffy! Yumm…. enjoy!

I had left overs for carbs from a Harvest Grains Blend – also from Trader Joe’s. It was basically a mixture of wheat flour durum semolina, pasta like but also had grains like split baby garbanzo beans and red quinoa.

Along with Indian lemon pickle and the grain and the pan seared yellow fin tuna steaks, my Saturday lunch was just awesome! Yummm….. and it only took 5-7 mins tops!

Best Wishes and Cheers….
