Mother’s cry for help for her son having diabetes since 4 years old….
Hope you had a chance to read an earlier introductory post on - Kids with diabetes and a mother’s painful ordeal?. is The mom is real. Her name is Lourdes and her son is real – K J, who suffers from diabetes since he was 4 yrs old! We do not know too much but the statistics for kids getting diabetes is alarming and we should take note! How and why diabetes is hitting young kids and perhaps struggles a family has to go through with kids having diabetes. In this post, I present the mother’s cry for help to find some support and love for keeping her son healthy and overcome diabetes.
Here is Lourdes in her own words -
My name is Lourdes Cordero and as you may know, diabetes has greatly affected my life. My 18 year old son, KJ, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 4 years old. KJ has been using injection needles up until 4 years ago when he got “the insulin pump”. He’s been hospitalized many times because of diabetes. He likes the pump because it has given him more freedom to eat certain foods, but he still has to watch his diet and exercise every day. However, this year the insulin pump almost killed him. His pump was defective and K.J. ended up in the Intensive Care Unit for 5 days during my birthday. We almost lost him! His lungs were affected and K.J. was not able to play drums, sports or even walk for over 3 months. He is doing better! Now more than ever, we are on a mission to find a cure!!! Please help!
