Why is India (2011 World Cup Cricket Champion) struggling? – part2

Trust you had a chance to check out the post on – Why is India (2011 World Cup Cricket Champion) struggling? – part1. We pick up from there in this post. There are several reasons why we get sick and ill, and perhaps similar reasons why teams get to lose… Let us explore more reasons why India is struggling lately, just a year removed from being the Champion!

> You have to win the smaller battles little by little – Make safer shots consistently while batting and you position yourself to win in the end! You play the game like beach cricket, and you lose every time!

> Lack of  quality to stop the opponents – on defense (bowling)- We  do not have good bowlers to threaten and intimidate the opposition, and much less to at least contain the opposition. Most of fast and spin bowlers are not world class, much less even above average. If the bowling cannot be a threat, all a team can do is to contain the other team, if that fails, they are doomed! Indian bowling and in some cases the bowlers used for slog overs are giving away 10+ runs an over in the last 10 overs. I’d say that is sub-standard!

> Making net-net better choices, especially at critical  times – We are not using the best of bowlers, of what we have to bowl during crunch time. This is assinine!

So, also as we make choices and follow through poorly, we hurt later with results that become pretty much out of our control.
