Is Isha Yoga a cult? Is Sadhguru a fraud? – Part 14

Is Isha a cult?

Is Isha a cult?

One will never know but you should be careful when you get into the core of any rituals like they do once you go to the advanced classes…Is Isha a scam or not?

Personal tete-a-tete-  On the last day at lunch, i had to ask him and i did ask him point blank at lunch table if he believes in a God. He did not answer tehe question on 3 tries. Then i said, Sir, its a simple question – do you or do you not believe in a God? To which he asked me if i did.  I said – Yes, i believe in a GOD that Jesus is talking about. He then said he does not talk to Christians. Then he said if i believed, i should not have a question; or that if i have a question, then i do not believe – which is it? A standard pre-meditated trap so to speak. Forgetting fully that the question is for him and instead turned it onto me…and about my belief.  He was so upset when i touched him on the shoulder gently to make peace but  he said in a stern voice, not to patronize him… I asked him if he did not see GOD in me now…He really got livid…but did not answer the origival question. He came to my table, after finishing his lunch and saw me eating a piece of melon and said that the melon is God. There is no god out there he said… I knew this moment that this was more of a cult i was thining it was…. still i will let you decide as i post more in other blogs…

Is Isha Yoga a Cult? Is Sadhguru a fraud? – Part13

Isha Yoga a cult?

Isha Yoga a cult?

Isha Yoga makes it about a man and not so much about a principle! This is perhaps a tell-tale sign of being a cult. If someone teaches benefits of breathing or meditating its one thing and its totally different when its presented as the only exact sequence of steps and that every one is GOD and that there is NO real God.  Some follow him blindly, because he is charismatic or because he is witty…further signs of being a cult…so much so, that we heard that some even claim Sadhguru can intercede for them if they have to go to the next world. Hmm….

The way he talks or treats those who do not agree to his principles is surely from one who is “enlightened” – right?

Its not about a man….never was and  …never should be…. Neither did Jesus say he is it… He always credited God and encouraged everyone to be able to do things he could and more…. it is always about eternal spiritual truths that everyone that comes to it, may find his own truth in his own journey and in his own way. Some find it in Jesus, some call it Jesus, others live the teachings…. Some call it Buddha, some called it Krishna… I would encourage the reader  to call it what he may, and know it for he is able to know and respect him for his views ….but to always keep knocking or seeking and finding truth upon truth, and precept upon precept ….in our own  life journey…. then the “truth” will  present itself in time as promised in spiritual principles.

If God almighty has given each a brain, and a choice to make that call, who are you and me; mere mortals to define a path to call the  “melon you are eating as GOD”…. or to “have others intercede on their behalf” or to “call everyone GOD”……and if and when you claim everyone is GOD and everything is GOD…why do you lack anything anyways, money, security and what you need? :) Can you really have it both ways?  Can you really?

You decide and either way my sincere best wishes to pursue your version of truth…

Best Wishes and Cheers….

Is Isha Yoga a cult? Is Sadhguru a fraud? – Part 12

Isha yoga a cult?

Isha yoga a cult?

Anyone  can appreciate benefits from regular meditation and from therapeutic yoga stretches, but there is more than meets the eye with this person who claims even a taller order. One thing Isha postulates rather slowly is that there is no God out there! Yet they also present that every thing is God….. peanut you eat, the trees you see and one another! Yes one can see and appreciate the presence of GOD in creation and in each other but to claim that everything is GOD is a tall order!

Further, when this person, Sadhguru, the founder of Isha Yoga on his associating with corrupt politicians  or how this has become a business with “liability waiver release” forms, with taking away your reasoning, with presenting things how you like and then turning it around, with high fees for classes  in India and US.

Also, they may  or may not be truly helping the poor, the ones who are truly in  poverty in India but at least on face value they seem to be  humanitarian and that’s good…

What about  Faith….Fact….. Fiction…?  Isn’t there some amount of  balance and integration and moderation?  Life is not just about yoga, if it were, you could hug a tree and kiss everyone and everything for being GOD.

I appreciate the teachings which are actually taught by every yoga teacher on breath and calming the mind; every other extra-curricular activity and other related voodoo witchcraft yoga is dangerous and could harm you….

Best Wishes and Cheers….

Is Isha Yoga a cult? Is Sadhguru a fraud? – part 11

Is Isha yoga cult?

Is Isha yoga cult?

There were times i question the teachings and there are times i even stretch my understanding  by being open. But this one time, in a personal conversation with Sadhguru, more of him was revealed and it made a few more things clear…When i personally questioned him, if he believed in GOD, he did not want to answer and proceeded to question me! When i asked him if he does not see GOD in me now? He was shocked i talk to him like that!  Next, after he finished his lunch, he came to my table and pointed to the melon i was eating and said that was my God for giving me nourishment.

Next, he went back into the class and rambled for about an hour – exactly 53 minutes on why if i believe in Jesus and that if he is the way to my God, why it was so wrong! What  i asked him, and what he told the class about my faith and for not “understanding” the concepts in his intro class and  why i ask of him questions addressed in the beginners class… and that i  must be crazy for wasting his time and coming to his BSP advanced class….all in the class? Well, the fact that i came was a way to find yoga and meditation techniques i can apply to my faith…… i had already followed a few pointers on yoga and meditation that are beneficial.   To make the teachings and mantras and postures as the only way to nirvana is something to consider if you would become a fan or a fanatic. No wonder many of the volunteers follow him so much…But one should watch out for if its Sadhguru or others who are modern professional appealing yoga guru scams!

I was later  told by one of his voluntreers, Aparna that he uses the same lecture to make this point….that he takes down anyone questioning him about presence of GOD. To each unto his own. but you cannot have it both ways…. You cannot teach you see God in every one and throw them under the bus if they have a different view.

Is Isha Yoga a cult? Is Sadhguru a fraud? – Part 8

Is Isha a cult?

Is Isha a cult?

Is Isha  a way of life? The only way? Is it a scam? Allow me to present a few observations for you, so you make your choices.  Its well run and has good things to teach for a logical person to “re-learn”, to work on selfishness which is considered to being the problem to views we hold onto as our own truths, and taught as foundation principles in most religions and doctrines. Modern man, as we know, does not like instituition or authority or doctrine…. So, he helps with that aspect with some teachings – good so far!

In one week of their introductory class, they provide good nutrition tips, and follow up with games and a routine and claim that the routine will make you free! They call this yoga postures and breathing “Sambasiva Mahamudra”… a technique with series of breath and chant and physical stretches as “key” to life.  Upon telling the instructor that i learned other techniques that other yogis do too, they seemed to not care about the benefits of those techniques….but brain wash every attendee that if they do this, the person will be healthy for life!

They talk about how there is an element of God in everyone! I can buy that! I am cool with that. They then have volunteers and followers convinced slowly that everything is God. I had my stomach have a little reflux with that…

Further, the man talks Jesus and talks Hindu Gods in a way that appeases the attendees especially the newbies…but also that he does not believe in God is slow like the slow poison…..as it comes out slowly and not very obvious.  This is so clever and conniving  that i had to ask him to his face if he believed in God. His answer was  that of non-challance. Upon finding out that i was Christian by faith, he went on to say that he would not talk to Christians but only to human beings!

I realized more that this man was operating a following, a promise of spiritual connection to God and yet talks about God in every person and everything.  Albeit good principles of selflessness and of ability to seeing goodness and divinity in everyone with his teachings, one may have to wonder not just logically, but also what you “feel-in-your-gut” and how your spirituality gets from the waving of these checkered red flags of Isha Yoga. Is it s a fraud? I dunno… Is Isha a scam? I do not know… What i know is your life and your path is the most important for you…

Best Wishes and Cheers….

Is Isha Yoga a cult? Is Sadhguru a fraud? – Part 7

Isha Yoga a cult?

Isha Yoga a cult?

Isha history – a mystery? Some people call Sadhguru a fraud, some call him a God, some ask him to intercede to God if they die, some say he was involved in wife’s murder trial by the Indian police.  Some say he is connected with bad politicians in India. Some even consider Isha yoga as a way of life, others think Isha Yoga scam is more like it. You can look it up! I do not know and do not have comments on that. But what i do is on what he teaches people today and how can one improve their quality of life.  I see a bunch of programs for Humanitarian work and other “spiritual” teachings most yogis know and talk about. I am glad to see he puts it on the table that the poor are being helped and all but if you are God and everyone is God, should you not be able to take care of that by just wishing it?

What Isha does in the Advanced class? What he does though is some combination of hypnotism and NLP and has his followers shriek and go into spasms and some kind of witchcraft or so it seems. People sometimes are drawn to “boohoo” mystical stuff and great but this can be scary voodoo stuff, no matter how “accepting” and “open-minded” one can be!  If you go to his advanced class in remote Tennessee place in a huge Dome like dwelling, the echos, the chants and the drumming and the wild dancing and tantra are all part of sound and sights. You are not allowed to take pictures. You are asked to release all phones and money and wallets in at the registration counter. I can see why? They do not want you to talk to outside world about events as they happen. When they brain wash you, they do not want interruptions until they “equip” you to walk away with a “flame” that others do not and should not put out by their inputs…. This is puzzling to me and makes it a cult because they do not allow for free thinking until they have engrained their mark on you…

Lucky some guys including myself walked away or not participated in their rituals to follow their instructions…its too weird and spooky to roll eyes and hiss and have spasms and then hug the person that way too… All this possibly  make him an expert at brain washing people and making them believe that a “peanut” is God and a tree is God and neighbour is god and you are God.

So, is Isha Yoga a cult? Is Sadhguru a fraud? Is Isha a scam?

Is Isha Yoga a cult? Is Sadhguru a fraud? – Part 6

Isha yoga cult? Sadhguru fraud?

Isha yoga cult? Sadhguru fraud?

Is Isha Yoga a cult? Is Sadhguru a fraud? You do the reading, and do your research and perhaps you will be able to make your own conclusions…In fact, i strongly suggest you do just that….

Some more observations – If you have read the earlier 5 posts, i  guess now you know why taking pictures inside is not allowed and why he makes you sign a waiver to “eternally” relieve him of any legal complications from the practice…Is it because he is God or he is scared of other God’s around him?  Also, i  have seen his disciples act so humble and subservient to him and they claim He is God……or in some cases as if he can intercede for you …

Yoga for lecture only? So,  they call themselves Isha yoga, but it is not much of yoga at all… There are no yoga postures or training except for the sambasiva mudra which is actually taught in basic class.  It seems like a cross between theology, spirituality, way of living, self-improvement and more rolled into this turban full of turbulence…. Even their theory is about everything to be God, but then they treat you like crap if you ask them a question or ask volunteer why something is the way it is… One retorted back that i will never understand these things because I am  thinking too much…..OK, i can see that to some extent….then how about this?  Do i not have to think to undertand  and experience whats being taught in the class? Did i miss a memo?  The biggest of  inconsistencies i notice is that we should suspend our logic and our experience at all costs but should accept his concept, his logic and his teachings and his experiences ….as gospel truths? When volunteers believe he is a n agent to intercede to God, and support his actions and choices at all cost, it becomes more about a person, than a spiritual principle….This aspect is another cult-like situation…When it violates the principles of true higher truth such as Be good, do good and love God, it makes one another Gods… and this is dangerous giving and assuming power.  Absolute power corrupts absolutely…  Does it perhaps sound like David Quresh of Waco, Texas?

Is Isha Yoga a cult? – Is Sadhguru a fraud? – Part 5

Isha - a cult?

Isha - a cult?

Is doing this  gig the opening of heavens?  When one seeks anything in life, it usually comes with patience and perseverance.  Even practise of a rituals of deep breathing and yoga stretching exercises, the benefits that can come with daily practice. When you however take a few of those and  “patent” them  as  “Sambasiva Mahamudra” ( a series of steps only to be done like he teaches – although many other yoga teachers teach a similar sort of steps…and to claim this unique magic formula for life success is preposterous) to achieve Nirvana this exclusive way – its ridiculous! Whats worse is that its  talked as if this is the “holy grail” super key for bliss in life, exactly done the way its taught….and not top be shared with others… doesn’t this sound like business? rather than a way of life?

Is everything around you GOD?  May people have many definitions for God and call him different names. Some, as in atheists even give God a non-existent status! In Isha, they talk about all God’s and they call everything God.  The peanut I eat is God, the tree i see is God, the melon i eat is  God and you are God and I am God. Being a God, you should not want anything – right? I can even see how one can see the presence of God in everything but to call everything as God is ridiculous!

Tantrums  for enlightenment?  In the advanced class, his senior volunteers show case thier  body shakes and jerks and  seizures. Some roll their eyes, some hiss like snakes, or have spasms in front of him…when he walks by…they scream “Shambo” and they erupt into a tizzy of spasms….Everytime this happened, some of my friends would wonder and  try to get the others attention to watch these crazy events…Even the ones who go to the class, a few of them, either by peer pressure or otherwise start this too, perhaps as  “initiation” or acceptance, perhaps  a voodooo ritual at best…

Or violent, incessant head thrust your way to enlightenment…  They skit out an event where you stand with eyes closed with a rag and you are supposed to scream “shiva”….and you are supposed to thrust your body forward with your legs where they are… When done repeatedly with intensity, it can cause neck spasms or even back ache or even tightening of hams as some have noticed the next day. About 100+ of these are done to screams and done non-stop. With the intensity, you siphon the blood to your head by this method.  So, when you stop to the claaaaaang of the gong, you get to sense some rising of the energy and the blood. Save your self money and hysteria… Get enlightened by sitting under a tree.  This psuedo  kundalini awakening is more of the witchcraft i am talking about……
